What is a home care package (HCP)?
A Home Care Package is government funding provided to assist senior Australians who require care to maintain their independence at home for a longer time. To cater to the unique needs of seniors, there are four different levels of Home Care Packages available, ranging from lower-level care – Level 1 Home Care Package, to higher level, more complex care – Level 4 Home Care Package.
-
- Level 1 Home Care Package – Provides basic assistance designed to offer a little extra support to help seniors stay independent. This HCP level may include one or two weekly visits from a care worker.
-
- Level 2 Home Care Package – Offers low-level assistance that gives seniors the extra support they need to stay independent. This HCP level may include three or four visits a week from a care worker.
-
- Level 3 Home Care Package – Provides home care services for seniors who require more support to continue living at home. This HCP level may include visits from a care worker or a nurse most days of the week.
-
- Level 4 Home Care Package – Offers high-level home care suitable for seniors with high-level or complex nursing needs. This HCP level may include daily visits from a care worker or a nurse.
Seniors who are eligible for home care funding can use it to access a range of services that assist them at home, care for their health, and improve their overall well-being.
If you are over 65 years of age and are an Australian citizen, you may be eligible for support.
